Preparing Your Home To Sell
Remember that the way you live in your home is not the way you will sell your home. The minute the "For Sale" sign is in your yard, your home becomes a product. Buyers only know what they see, not a home’s potential. There are many things you can do to gain an edge in the marketplace at very little cost. Take the time to walk around your home and look at it through a buyer’s eyes.- First impressions count! Is your yard and front of your home clean, neat and appealing? Clean debris and cobwebs from your entrance and add some bright flowers.
- Is your home neutral, de-personalized and de-cluttered? Reduce the number of family photos, pack up collections and valuables.
- Are there odors from pets, cooking, smoke that will turn off potential buyers?
- Is everything in good repair? Lights that don’t work, cracks in the ceilings or walls and broken handles say to a buyer that your home has not been cared for.
- Are carpets worn and dirty? Clean or replace them!
- Do rooms seem small and cluttered? Remove furniture and reposition large pieces for better flow.
- Are bathrooms, kitchen, floors, blinds, ceiling fans and windows clean and sparkling?
